May Splurge!

So I had a little splurge last week! I was feeling very frivolous and decided to treat myself to a new handbag!

I have a lot of bags (I mean A LOT!) mainly because I love a good quality handbag and unlike clothes they always fit no matter what! But after surveying my extensive handbag collection I noticed that I don't have a smart black one and that is something every girl should have - that's what I've told myself anyway! ;-) So with my personal shopper in tow (mum) I went on the hunt.

I found myself in the Leeds Michael Kors shop and already owning a few from their collections and loving the quality, I decided that this would be the perfect designer to make my purchase from.

I've been a fan of Michael Kors for a long time. I've worn the original fragrance after I discovered it in Harvey Nichols when I was at university, so that's over 10 years ago (gosh, that makes me feel old!) and this brand has grown and grown in popularity ever since.

I purchased a new purse from them last week (see last weeks blog.....) and love the quality and design. It's very chic and understated compared to a lot of designer brands and the price although seems to have increased over the years, is still good value for what you get.

I have to say the staff in the Leeds store were all fabulous! Being very helpful and attentive but not pushy and in the end I found the prefect bag.

It's called the Selma. It's the medium saffiano leather messenger. Perfect for a smart black bag and is classic enough to not go out of fashion, which is exactly what I was after. It has a long strap so can be worn across body as well as hand held which I really liked. I thought it would be perfect to go from day to evening.

I am in love and know that it will last me a long time and will be a staple in my outfit choices for many years to come. I'm going to go now and stare at it some more :-) .

Mid-Week Date!

So Karl and myself finally got a bit of time off together, so to celebrate we decided to have a date day! We have a date night when we get time, which is always nice when you work full-time and long hours but this was lovely and a great idea, even if i do say so myself :-)

We started with brunch (we weren't up and ready early enough for breakfast!) We went to Angelicas, which is located in the Trinity centre in Leeds. It is on the very top floor with great views over Leeds. You get to it via a lift near the back of the trinity that is almost hidden, which makes it feel very special. It was lovely and quiet at 10.30 on a Monday morning, and all the staff were very attentive. The restaurant has a very relaxed yet luxurious ambiance about it. Karl went for the full english and I had poached eggs on toast - yummy. The coffee was fab also. It was the perfect start to our date day!

Once suitably full, we decided to have a bit of retail therapy. I managed not to splurge having only just bought a new hand bag last week. I did pick up a few bits for my holiday though. A gorgeous pair of Ipanema flip flops from TK Maxx. I love iPanema flip flops as they are cute yet functional and these ones were just too cute to pass up.

I also purchased this gorgeous kimono from H&M. Its from the Coachella collection and I thought I could channel my inner boho on the beach, plus I thought it would also be nice on a summer evening with jeans and flip flops.

When shopping, sustenance is needed, so I indulged in my favourite treat, frozen yoghurt. I went to Yoghies which is in the Core Shopping Centre in the city. I went for the chocolate flavour (naturally!) with strawberries and it was really, really good! I could eat it again right now....

Finishing our date day off with a trip to the Everyman cinema - also located in the Trinity centre. We went to see Mad Max: Fury Road. It isn't a film I would necessarily choose to see but Karl really wanted to see it - and it stars Tom Hardy, so I didn't mind too much :-) The Everyman is a brilliant cinema, a very different experience to most conventional cinemas. The seats are two seat sofas which are super comfy, with pillows and a foot rest. It is almost like watching it at home, and enables you to snuggle in and get comfy. Plus you get to order food and they deliver it to your seat!! This was a winner for me. We ordered a pulled pork pizza, which was freshly made in the big pizza oven and was very tasty indeed. It was a definite winner with me and Karl and we will be back again soon. I would highly recommend it as a special date location.

Anyway, that was our date day done with. We both had a really nice day and enjoyed spending some time together out and about during the week. I'll definitely be booking some annual leave to do it again soon!

London: Shopping and Food!

I had to go to London last week for work, but thought I'd make the most of the time I didn't have to work enjoying some of things the big smoke has to offer!! Namely, amazing shops and good eats! Ha

The first thing I bought was a new cover for my iPhone. I am in love, and have been since I started watching YouTube videos many moons ago, with Kate Spade! It really appeals to me and I have had a few cheeky little purchases over the years mainly when I've been to the states but I have purchased before from the shop in convent garden, London. I think it's the only Kate Spade shop in the UK. I LOVE it! It's such a beautiful shop and worth a visit even if it's just to look at the beautiful pieces they have on offer. I wanted to buy a new wallet as my old Kate spade one is looking rather battered and beaten, so went looking for a replacement, but they didn't have the style I liked in any of the colours I liked. So treated myself to this instead:

It's sooooo cute! Really up my street, kitschy and cute and I love it.

I did find a wallet as well, in my second favourite shop Michael Kors. Like I said my old one was looking a bit ropey (I have had it over 2 years and use it everyday!). I loved this style as soon as I saw it - it's not too bulky but it has lots of space for cards and notes and the zipper for coins on the side. Then I saw it in the fabulous colbolt blue. It is not a colour I would normally go for (I'm a pink girl through and through!) but I fell in love with it and new that it had to be my replacement wallet.

That was the all the shopping I did, but I made sure I fulfilled the 'good eats' I mentioned earlier. I indulged in a cheeky Snog frozen yoghurt - so tasty! I went for the salted caramel with Oreos and pistachios. Check it out if your around Covent Garden as it is some of the best I've had!

We also enjoyed a lovely meal at a place in Covent Garden called Joe's Southern Kitchen and Bar The restaurant and bar has a really 'cool hipster' vibe to it, I can imagine it's very lively on an evening and weekend! The staff were fab, very efficient and friendly and most importantly the food was AWESOME! We had lunch here so opted for a £10 Blue plate special which is available 12 - 4pm, Monday to Friday. It comprises of Joe's southern fried chicken with fries and BBQ pulled pork beans (these were so delicious, I could easily have just had a bowl full of them!) and it comes with a drink. I opted for Joe's homemade lemongrass lemonade. This was absolutely divine! I am a big lemongrass fan and it was so tasty and fresh. If this is anything to go by, I'd love to go back and check out there cocktail menu as I bet is amazing. I would highly recommend it.

I had booked a table for afternoon tea at a place called Mews of Mayfair  I received an email through Bookatable (one of these websites that send out deals for meals in specific areas and mine's set to London, check it out here The email had an offer for afternoon tea with unlimited champagne for £40! I booked on-line straight away!! You don't have to say 'unlimited champagne' to me twice!

We arrived prior to our booked time as we were exhausted from shopping and were seated straight away, in a cosy little corner just of the street! They immediately brought two glasses of Veuve Clicquot and a tea menu. Once we had ordered it didn't take long for the food and tea to arrive.

It was presented beautifully, on a traditional afternoon tea tray, with sandwiches on the bottom, scones on the middle and pastries on top! All the food was absolutely divine but the scones really stood out to me as being amazing! They were fresh and dreamy! My mouth is watering thinking about them!!

The service was a little slow to start with but picked up and all the staff were excellent, we never had an empty flute and throughout the afternoon managed seven glasses each without even realising it! The ambiance was fab and the room we were in was fabulously decorated, all the images were drawn on using marker pen but they were fantastic and so detailed it really made the room stand out! Overall it was brilliant and considering a normal champagne afternoon tea there is £45 with one glass of champagne -  this offer really was worth the money and I would definitely recommend it to friends and family and will be along myself again soon I hope!

I would really recommend for deals as they do have some excellent ones and I have used them a few times now and not been disappointed!!

I'd also just like to mention the Premier Inn at Kings Cross. I stayed there and I cannot praise the staff highly enough or the location. The hotel is a budget hotel so don't expect any fancy frills but the beds are super comfy and the rooms a great size for a London hotel. It's location is great as its next to Kings Cross and means that it is super easy to hop onto the tube to explore. As I said the service really stood out, the staff were fabulous, every single member of staff iI spoke to was pleasant and courteous and nothing was a problem for them. I would highly recommend this hotel as a base to explore London on a budget, super location and great staff! I will be back!! Check out any offers here:

Anyway I'm exhausted now after a long week - sadly not all of it was shopping and afternoon tea :-( but loved my time in London and will be back soon! Just need to get my self to the gym now to work off all the calories consumed before I do!

Top 3 Products In April

April is over, where on earth has that gone?? At least we’ve had a bit of sunshine and good weather here in England, which has made for a lovely spring month. It’s felt like a really happy month. Because of this and I haven’t used a lot of new products this month as I’ve been so busy with work and then enjoying the sunshine, but here are my top 3 products for the month of April.

Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration Sun Lotion

The sun has been shining on us for a lot of this month, so being on the paler end of the skin tone spectrum I’ve been using sun protection when I've been out and about. I picked this up at the end of last year in a sale in the hope of a bit of winter sun, but alas life got in the way and I didn’t get the chance. I cracked this open at the start of the month and I love it! It has a fantastic coconut holiday smell, although not the usual sun lotion smell, a lot more like a body lotion scent. It goes on like a dream, it's not sticky, more creamy and is very easy to blend into the skin making it easier to not miss any bits. It also absorbs very fast so as not to leave the usual sticky residue that slot of sun lotions leave, plus its factor 30, bonus! It also leaves a lovely subtle sparkle/sheen on the skin that I really liked. I would highly recommend this if you are looking for a new sun lotion to try this year. Lets hope for a bit more sun so I can keep on using this!

L'Oreal skin perfection -  miracle cleansing oil

I have been a big fan of cleansing oils for a few years now. I started with the MAC cleanse off oil and loved it, but then I tried the Emma Hardie cleansing balm after receiving a sample from a beauty box and have been using that ever since. However I sadly ran out at the end of February and was unable to repurchase at the time due to wanting to save a bit of money (it's amazing but very pricey!), so I needed a quick fix. I saw this on offer in Asda for a few pounds, so thought I’d give it a try. I was very pleasantly surprised! It easily gets rid of all my makeup (especially water proof mascara!) and feels nice and light on the skin and nourishing. I would say it is a good cheaper alternative to the MAC cleanse off oil and I have used it every day since I purchased and am really impressed with it! I will defineatly keep using it until it runs out and then decided whether to splurge again on the cleansing balm or just save my money and repurchase!

Balance Me revitalising hand and body wash

This was one of the items in my April beauty box. I wasn’t overly excited about using this but popped it in my shower anyway to give it a whirl. The smell is amazing, so refreshing, a great pick me up first thing in the morning. It lathers really well which I was pleasantly surprised at as it is sulphate free and I have struggled in the past to find a sulphate free wash that give a good amount of foam and bubbles, but I had no bother with this. It left my skin feeling soft and very clean and smelt fabulous for a good few hours. Overall I really enjoyed using this product and it has inspred me to look at other products from Balance Me. A big thumbs up from me and by far the best product to come out of my April beauty box.

Well thats it for another month. May is a another busy month for work but I do have a holiday coming up in May as well so hopefully i will get to try a whole array of new products, as love to try new things for holidays that I wouldn’t always use at home.
